Midnight Hour Band: Best Dance Band in Philadelphia

Phoenixville Foundry: Bennett-Jennings Wedding – January 12th, 2013

Finding a band that could keep the dance floor packed during our reception was a top priority for us. Midnight Hour was recommended by our venue coordinator and we went to listen to their showcase twice. In preparation for the day, Shavin spoke to us on the phone and helped us choose songs (his reccommendations were perfect) and even took the time to help ensure that "My Girl" would be timed appropriately for our choreographed father-daughter dance. We left the playlist and song choices up to the band, with the caveat that we wanted everyone to be dancing all night. We were not disappointed! They chose the right amount of oldies, party favorites and new hits. They weren't overly showy or cheesy (as some wedding bands can be) and "Tiny" the emcee was great! We would highly recommend Midnight Hour!

This is the first time I've ever taken the time to write a review for anything, but I had such a great experience from beginning to end working with Midnight Hour that I just had to share it with others who are searching for a band.

Look no further, Midnight Hour will ensure that your guests have a great time at your event and you will definitely have a packed dance floor! I had the privilege of having Midnight Hour play at my wedding reception in September 2012. During our first dance as husband and wife, we had to keep glancing at the band to make sure they were really singing and that it wasn't a recording because they sounded THAT GOOD! It was incredible, and one of the best moments of our wedding day.

The bandleader, Shavin, is so professional and organized. He had a formal timeline created for the entire reception weeks in advance, so that we were able to plan things perfectly and utilize every minute! A wedding goes by so fast, so you want to make sure you enjoy it without stressing about what comes next. Midnight hour orchestrated the night so well, making sure everyone was on the dance floor and having a great time! They won’t get “too” involved (which I was worried about), they know it’s about you and your guests and they will see what music the crowd is responding to and will cater to them.

I have people tell me that our wedding was the best wedding they ever attended. I even had people say they weren't a fan of having a band at a wedding until they heard Midnight Hour at our wedding.

You can see that each member of the band is passionate about what they do and they put the effort into making your event special. Joanne (the female singer) is so talented as well, it seems like she can sing just about anything, she is awesome! They really don’t even compare to other bands out there.

If you are searching for a band for your wedding or event, choose Midnight hour, you will not be disappointed! I can honestly say choosing Midnight Hour was the best decision we made for our wedding!

Dear Shavin & The Midnight Hour Band,

Katelyn and I can not thank you enough for the EXTRAORDINARY performance that you guys delivered on our wedding night 6/30 @ The Waterworks. We could not have wished for a better sounding, more entertaining or more professional band. EVERYONE loved you guys! I can not tell you how many compliments we got about the band, but to put it modestly, there were too many to count. You guys made the difference in taking our wedding night from good to GREAT.

Our families and friends are critical when it comes to rating bands and their performances, with that being said you guys get a PERFECT 10! A few of our guests commented that you guys sounded so good and professional that many times throughout the night they thought that the actual recordings of the songs were being played, that is how much you nailed EVERY song! We can not thank you enough for making our wedding night the best and most fun night of our lives. Everyone danced ALL night long and EVERYONE couldn't get enough of The Midnight Hour Band!

Lastly, Shavin was a GREAT band leader to deal with. He accomodated our EVERY request and made our wedding night more special than we ever could have expected.

Midnight Hour played for our April 16th 2011 wedding and rocked it!! We had over 250 guests and everyone was on the dance floor all night long. They played a variety of music that every age group, from young to old, could enjoy. They even played a Polka for my husband's Polish family members which sounded amazing! And let's not forget some of our guests who ended up singing into the microphone with the band! THANK YOU for making my wedding reception a night I will never forget. I am sure you know that every bride has anxiety over hosting an event for one of the most important days of her life. Thanks to you all, my reception went flawlessly. From the cocktail hour to the introductions and special dances, I could not have envisioned everything going so perfectly.

Ricky and I had always planned on using the original song recording of "I Only Have Eyes For You" by the Flamingos for our first dance because we love their unique sound. I cannot tell you how excited I was to hear that the band would be able to learn it for us and play the song live, and WOW, what a fantastic job you did. You are all SO versatile and professional. Your energy kept the dance floor packed and smiles plastered on people's faces. Everyone was commenting on how wonderful the band was and that they were having such a fantastic time (and that is a HUGE compliment because some of my guests are real critics) Comments like "I've never been to a wedding in all my life where everyone left their dinners on the table so they could be on the dance floor!" and "This is the most fun I've had at a wedding in the last 20 years!" Another couple there had heard you guys play at a couple other places and they said you sounded fantastic every time. I could go on and on.

Bottom line, if I had to do it all over again, I wouldn't change a thing. THANK YOU!!

Dear Shavin and The Midnight Hour Band,

We first heard Midnight Hour at a friend's wedding a few year's ago, before we were engaged.  It was the most fun we ever had at a wedding. We believe music is the most important element to any party, and Midnight Hour proved it to us at that wedding. We made sure we got your information from that bride, because we knew we would be calling you when it was finally our turn!

Well, you came through for us. We appreciated and loved how much you talked to us about the music and the plan for the night in the weeks and months prior to our wedding. We were surprised at how easily you could accommodate our special requests, the songs we wanted to hear that were not your band's song list, and that you let us choose the music that we'd have playing during your dinner break.  People came up to us at the very beginning of the night, before salads were even cleared, to tell us how awesome the band was, and they continued to tell us throughout the night, and in the weeks since the wedding.

Our guests are telling us that our wedding was the best wedding they ever attended.  That's what we told our friend -- the one who hired you a few years ago. So, I know that without you guys, our guests would not be saying that!

Thank you for making our wedding reception so much fun! The band was great, and the songs you learned were HUGE hits with our guests.  "Feelin' Alright" [by Joe Cocker] was awesome!  Loving Cup [by The Rolling Stones], fantastic!  And ending the night with your version of "Harvest Moon" [by Neil Young] was exactly how I imagined it.  Hearing those songs at our wedding made it so personal for us, and got everyone on the dance floor!  (One of Eric's friends actually screamed when she heard Loving Cup!).

Reading your blog was also a trip! A friend of mine texted me while we were on our honeymoon and we logged on at the hotel to see what you had written...Eric loved being quoted, you guys are great!

Thank you so very much for your hard work, professionalism, and excellent talent.   I hope you enjoyed yourselves as much as we did. I think that our reception was the most fun our family has had together in almost 10 years!

Midnight Hour played at our wedding reception, and numerous guests commented to us about how impressed they were with the breadth of the band's repertoire, from The Black-Eyed Peas "I Gotta Feelin (Tonight's Gonna Be a Good Night)" and "Let's Get it Started" to U2's "Beautiful Day". We especially appreciated Shavin working with us to play our favorites ... they did "Livin' on a Prayer" and also learned some new songs for us, including "Eye of the Tiger" and Bon Jovi's "It's My Life". The dance floor was packed with those songs! The music was so great that Ryan (the groom) missed eating his groom's cake because he was dancing so much!
