Philadelphia Wedding Band Showcase – Important Questions to Ask When Attending

Advice From Pros and Brides

Many people find that attending a Philadelphia wedding band showcase is the best way to pick the perfect entertainment for their wedding. But choosing the right wedding band is more than just hearing the music. There are important questions you should ask:

1. Is the band from the Philadelphia area?

Philadelphia area doesn’t mean the company is from the area. If having a local band is important to you, be sure to ask this question. Our company is local to the Philadelphia area and we have been in business for over 40 years.

2. How long has the band been together?

Some companies have a “mix and match” approach to your wedding band. They have a pool of musicians under their umbrella that they put together for the showcase. They may sound great at the time of the show, but many times they do not rehearse together. Sometimes, they don’t even know each other. They just know the same songs and hopefully they don’t make any mistakes when they play at an event together. We don’t showcase or show up to your wedding like that. All of the great live bands on the BVTLive! roster have been together for at least 5 years and rehearse regularly.

3. How many weddings have they done?

There are some great bands out there that can pack and a club and have a huge following. That doesn’t mean they know anything about playing at a wedding. There is more to it than just playing. You want a band with professionalism and knows protocol like what to wear, how to control the volume, and how to pack a dance floor with the right songs to ensure everyone is dancing. Our bands do over 1,400 weddings and events each year, we have over 1,000 5-star reviews, and we are on the preferred vendor list at many high-end venues, so we know how to do it right.

4. How experienced is the bandleader?

Bandleader experience is a very important thing to know. An experienced bandleader is responsible for the flow of your reception. They know how and when to introduce your bridal party, when to conduct special dances, and how to properly invite family and friends to offer toasts. They know how to craft the perfect timeline so that your reception flows seamlessly without awkward breaks or silences. They stay in steady communication with your banquet manager to make sure that people are seated when it’s time to eat and dancing when it’s party time!

5. How often do they rehearse?

You should have a band that rehearses frequently to have the best musical experience. All the bands at BVTLive! take pride in their performances so they rehearse often. Even if they already know them, our bands make sure they rehearse the first dance and special dances before each wedding to make sure the sound is clean and the vocals are tight.

6. Do they use backing tracks during my wedding or just at their Philadelphia wedding band showcase?

Many bands use karaoke-style backing tracks with background vocals during their entire performance at your wedding. While this is good for a song or two to fill out the sound, when you hire a full live band, you shouldn’t have to pay for a lip-synch performance. The bands at BVTLive pride themselves on being trained and experienced musicians and vocalists that perform their songs live using real instruments to create a full sound.

BVTLive! and Kurt were fabulous! From our very first visit to Ardmore to listen to a few of their bands, we knew right away that BVTLive! was going to be the group that we worked with.
