World Renowned Philadelphia Jazz Ensemble, The Gunnar Mossblad Trio

The Gunnar Mossblad Jazz Ensemble adds the perfect touch of world class jazz artistry to every wedding, event, or corporate function they perform at. Gunnar is a Grammy nominated musician with years of experience playing all styles of classical, jazz and contemporary music.

As a world renowned saxophone player, Gunnar Mossblad utilizes the very best of the best musicians on the east coast to provide a sophisticated, swinging presentation of music for all occasions in a variety of formats from duos, trios and quartets all the way up to a full big band. His classical playing on both saxophone and flute can also contribute to a beautiful wedding ceremony.

Gunnar Mossblad is well known as a both a jazz and classical saxophonist, as well as a composer and educator. His collaborations with jazz masters such as Dave Liebman, Jon Hendricks, Jimmy Cobb, Randy Brecker, and many others have enriched his unique voice on the saxophone and as a composer.

He also serves as the Musical and Education Director of the internationally acclaimed David Liebman Big Band as well as the Manhattan Saxophone Ensemble. Mossblad has also been fortunate to premiere 20^th and 21^st century Classical pieces written by award winning composers including Gunther Schuller, Jon Harbison, Libby Larsen, Larry Nelson, and many more, and has performed with the Fort Worth, Dallas, Roanoke, Toledo, and National Symphonies.

His compositional style might best be described as a blending of traditional compositional techniques with both contemporary and chromatic harmony. He has educational materials published by Houston Publishing, LeMoine Music, FJH Music Company, and Jazz Aebersold. He was a regular contributor to the now defunct Saxophone Journal as well as Jazz Player magazine.

Mossblad  attended and earned a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies and a Master of Music in Saxophone Performance from the famed University of North Texas. Since then, Gunnar has held Professorships at three Universities over the last 35 years: James Madison University, West Chester University, and is currently Professor of Music at the University of Toledo. He has written numerous compositions and arrangements for a wide variety of ensembles. In addition to several of the projects mentioned above, He has written classical and jazz commissions for a variety of chamber groups, production music for television, industrial and indie films, and recently a symphony orchestra with big band. Gunnar has a lifetime of experience under his belt at luxury weddings and corporate events. His presence brings a traditional, and sophisticated presence to each event he performs.
