For the Groom: What To Do On My Wedding Day

Tips, Wedding & Party Advice

For the Groom:  What Am I Supposed To Do On My Wedding Day?

There are three stages to a wedding, the planning stage, the day of the wedding, and then after the wedding. You will have different responsibilities in each of these stages.  The previous article talked about the planning stage.  Now we will talk about the day of your wedding.

The day has finally come, and you are about to get married. The most important thing you can do is to be present and be involved on this day.  Try to get plenty of sleep, wake up early, and get a good breakfast into your stomach.  The day will go by really fast so be prepared.  Go into this day feeling good about yourself. Today is not just for the bride.  It is your day too. Enjoy each moment and take it all in. Create memories for yourself.  Sit down and have conversations with your parents, your siblings, your best man and groomsmen.  Take in the moment. These are the last hours of your life as an unmarried man.

Should I Buy my Bride a Gift?

Another thing you should do is get your bride a gift.  Give her something sweet and meaningful to her.  This could be a piece of jewelry like bracelet or necklace, or it could be something more sentimental like a handwritten letter letting her know how much you love her.  No matter what it is, make this gift a memory.  Present it to her, watch her reaction and cherish that moment for the rest of your life.

What Should I Do at the Wedding Ceremony?

When it comes to the ceremony, make sure you are on time.  Do not leave your bride wondering where you are.  She will have a lot of emotions and responsibilities leading up to the moment you say “I do” so the last thing you want is for her to be stressing about your whereabouts.  Show her you care by being present when it’s time for her to walk down the aisle.  A timely groom will make for a happier bride.

How to Exchange Vows with your Bride!

At the moment you exchange your vows, take a deep breath and take notice of the beauty of your bride.  She has probably spent a lot of time getting her hair, makeup, and nails done.  She has spent months or even years picking the perfect dress.  Let her know that you notice her efforts. Look deeply in her eyes and tell her how beautiful she is.  Watch her smile at you and you will see just how beautiful her smile.  This moment only lasts a few minutes so make sure you are fully engaged in it.  Once you complete your vows, kiss her softly. Hold her hand. Enjoy the feeling of being in love. This is your wife. Be proud of the decision you made to marry her and remember this wonderful feeling forever.
