Built in 1852, in Downtown Lancaster Pennsylvania, Excelsior is a historical site with a twist! Between the chipped walls and weathered stone, this venue gives off a rustic yet classical vibe. Each notch and scratch within the hall tells a story and you are invited to create your own!
This magnificent building from the Victorian Era was vacant for almost four decades before Kelly and John Dantinne saw its potential and began to make it into the magical place that it has become. The abandoned building was crumbling when the couple began investing all their time and energy into gutting and remodeling the complex to make it as beautiful as it is historical. Finally, on February 20, 2016, they successfully completed their first event, a wedding that marked the official opening of Excelsior!
Perfect for parties, corporate events, showers, and weddings, Excelsior can accommodate anywhere from 100-500 guests depending on your choice of the three stunning and whimsical rooms. Each of these shabby-chic rooms has character, beautiful natural night and plenty of room to house your live band or DJ. The Empire Room, located upstairs, can be used for the ceremony, or the reception on your special day. It has enchanting high ceilings and grand columns, with more than enough space for fun! You also have the choice of the Grande Salon for your special event. This room has a rustic tin bar and an eye-catching grand staircase for the bride and groom’s exciting entrance as Mr. and Mrs. Don’t forget to mingle with guests in the Garden Courtyard, the Terrace, or the mysterious and uniquely beautiful Catacombs, which provide a beautiful echo element for your cocktail hour music.
To balance out the historical and vintage vibe with a touch of modern flare, the building decor is more urban and eccentric. With its dark steel beams, various chandeliers, and wood paneled flooring, the newly constructed terrace is a perfect example of incorporating modern trends. Excelsior makes sure to emphasize that each wedding is different and each story should be told in an exceptional way. That is why, on your extraordinary day, you will have access to the entire complex. Kelly believes that your wedding day should be all about your love story and makes sure that no other events would get in your way of perfection by never booking two events simultaneously.
Because these rooms are so large and enthralling, you are able to fit everyone and everything you desire. They are equipped with large areas for a dance floor, spaces for photo booths, and have even began taking steps to incorporate a new universal sound system so that your band or DJ can be heard throughout the complex! This historical site is quite charismatic, to say the least. On your wedding day, with Excelsior, you receive your own personal mansion, equipped with a total of seven useful rooms, from bridal chamber to the Grande Salon, a sensational caterer and plenty of space!
