Jellyroll Band: Best Wedding Band in Philadelphia
Kurt Titchenell is the founder and President of BVTLive! He is also the band leader, trombone player, and co-creator of the award-winning dance band Jellyroll and has been performing with the band since 1980.
Kurt began studying music at an early age leading him to pick up the trombone at age 15. Kurt has studied at Settlement Music School in Philadelphia and continued his studies at West Chester University where he received his degree.
In 1980, while attending West Chester University, Kurt co-founded the band Jellyroll. As the leader of Jellyroll, he led the band to become one of the most sought after acts in the Philadelphia area. Acknowledged as a top Philadelphia band by the Philadelphia Inquirer, Jellyroll has also received “Best Of Philly” (Philadelphia Magazine), “Best Of Delaware” (Delaware Today), and “Best Of The Main Line” (Main Line Today) Awards. Jellyroll was awarded the honor of being selected as one of the top 75 bands in the country by Modern Bride Magazine.
In 1999 Kurt founded Brandywine Valley Talent, now BVTLive, which has become one of the area’s leading dance bands and full service, live music talent agencies. BVTLive! acts will perform at over 1,400 events this year.
Kurt has become a sought after industry expert, whose entertainment advice has appeared in many publications, including “Modern Bride”, “The Knot”, “Delaware Today Magazine” and the “Jewish Exponent.” Kurt has also appeared on the “Ultimate Weddings” television show. He is a member of NACE (National Association of Catering Executives) and has served on the Philadelphia chapter’s executive board.
In addition to Philadelphia’s chapter, he is also a member of the Las Vegas chapter of NACE, having spoken on behalf of the association at the exclusive Wynn Casino. Kurt has also spoken as an expert for various other associations countrywide, and was awarded the Philadelphia Chapter of NACE’s prestigious “Spirit of NACE Award.” Kurt is also an active member of WIPA Philadelphia.
As the owner of BVTLive, Kurt believes strongly in charity and community service. BVTLive! has sponsored many high profile charitable events, lending the agency’s talents to prominent organizations including Alex’s Lemonade Stand and The Philadelphia Flyers Wives Fight For Lives Carnival.
In 2007, Kurt and his band, Jellyroll, received the ultimate honor for any musician, an invitation to perform at the Congressional Ball, held in the East Room at The White House. The performance was so successful that the band returned for a repeat performance in 2008.
