All three members studied jazz performance at Temple University, where they met, learned from, and continue to play with many of the great jazz musicians of our generation. Their undeniable chemistry is prominent in each event they perform, with guests and crowds alike praising them for their soulful sounds.

More About the Capital Trio

John Dimase was born and raised in Albany, New York, the state’s capital. His hometown played a large role in his personal and musical development, hence the name of the trio. Following his older brother’s footsteps, he started learning piano in second grade, trumpet in fourth grade and joined the school jazz band in early high school.

He went on to study jazz at Temple University under Terell Stafford, and has since learned from great musicians such as Wynton Marsalis, Tim Warfield, and John Swana among many others. In college he began singing, influenced by Frank Sinatra, Sarah Vaughan, and Nat King Cole, and singing has now become a large part of his musical career. Whether it be through his horn or his voice, John consistently captivates audiences with his smooth tone and use of melody.
