Rhythm & Reed is a DJ and live saxophone ensemble co-led by Philadelphia DJ Pierson and international saxophonist Sam Yenn-Batah. Together, they create an elevated, high-energy performance that combines open-format DJ sets with interactive live saxophone.

DJ and saxophone combinations have become one of the most requested forms of hybrid entertainment, but Rhythm & Reed brings more than a saxophonist playing over a DJ set.
DJ Pierson and Sam work together throughout the event, responding to each other, the music, and the crowd in real time. DJ Pierson blends an open-format mix across genres and generations, while Samuel adds soulful melodies, recognizable hooks, and live improvisation.
Sam frequently performs directly within the crowd, creating spontaneous moments on the dance floor without taking attention away from the celebration itself. The result is immersive, personal, and highly interactive. Every performance is shaped around the client, venue, guest list, and overall vision for the event, creating a truly bespoke experience.

Meet DJ Jim Pierson
DJ Pierson is an internationally experienced, Philadelphia-based DJ known for polished open-format sets and an exceptional level of attention to detail.
With more than two decades of experience, Pierson has performed for luxury weddings, private events, corporate clients, hospitality brands, and destination celebrations. His past clients and events include Mercedes-Benz, Balmain, Anthropologie, the Philadelphia Eagles, Patrón Tequila, Netflix, and additional nationally recognized brands.
Meet Sam Yenn-Batah
Sam Yenn-Batah is an international saxophonist, entrepreneur, and cultural curator. Born in Accra and raised in Atlanta, Sam developed his sound through mentorship, consistent practice, and a deep commitment to his craft.
He studied music for wellness at Berklee College of Music, expanding his understanding of how music can shape atmosphere, movement, and emotion. Sam knows when to step forward, when to pull back, and how to shift the energy of a room in an instant.
