Searching for the perfect entertainment for your event can feel overwhelming, stressful, and can simply be a daunting task. With so many options to choose from, we hope you find this blog a welcome remedy to unneeded or unwanted stress…Planning your event should be a fun and exciting experience, not a burden!
When searching for your perfect entertainment, the first thing you need to consider is experience. What are you hiring and who are you hiring? Don’t be afraid to ask questions. For example; how long has the band been together, and how often do they perform? Has the band performed at your venue? Remember, the more the band works and the longer they have been together, the better they will be.
Stability is also just as important as experience. You can have an experienced band, however without dedicated and stable musicians, do you know what or who you are hiring? Two things to ask your event consultant or bandleader: How often do band members change, and when was the last time a band member left? Keep in mind, bands that are in high demand attract and retain the top talent.
On top of experience and stability, also consider reputation. When hiring your event entertainment, look for and expect multiple and solid reviews, as well as referrals. A trustworthy review will include names, dates and venues. Your venue or other wedding professionals will often provide you a list of preferred vendors. Take their advice! Nobody sees and works with Bands or DJs more than venues and wedding professionals, and they will recommend the best. On top of referrals, also look for awards such as “Best of Knot”, Wedding Wire’s “Couples Choice Award”, and other local and national awards.
Don’t be fooled by sales gimmicks such as “free” add-ons (extra lighting, photobooths, etc.). Let’s face it, nothing is ever free. With a reputable musical entertainment company, you should always expect quality over quantity. Ask yourself, do you really want to sacrifice the quality of your live entertainment for a so called “free” add-on? If your live entertainment company is offering additional services such as photo booths or additional lighting, etc., make sure to ask if there will be someone onsite throughout your event to handle any unexpected issues Your bandleader or DJ’s primary focus should be on running the party, keeping the dance floor packed and not distracted by anything unrelated to the musical aspect of the event.
