Of our many award winning bands, one of our longest running bands is Jellyroll! With a rich history is packing dance floors, Jellyroll has had the opportunity to play a few particularly special events over the years!
The highly sought-after sounds of Jellyroll have drawn the likes of some of the most prominent people and organizations across the country. Here are 5 of Jellyroll’s most exciting events through the years.
2007 White House Congressional Ball
After years of establishing themselves as Philadelphia’s Original Horn Party Band, Jellyroll’s defining moment came in 2007 when former President George Bush and First Lady, Laura Bush, extended an invitation to perform at the Congressional Ball. Jellyroll packed the dance floor of the historic East Room with an audience filled with members of the Senate and Congress. The band performed for a 2 ½ hour show, only to be asked by the President to continue for another 20 minutes! It was truly an honor to be recognized as one of the top party bands in the country!
Laura Bush’s 44th High School Reunion at the White House
After Jellyroll’s first performance at the White House, the President and First Lady couldn’t get enough of the band! Less than 4 months after the Congressional Ball, Laura Bush brought Philadelphia’s best band back for an encore for her 44th high school reunion!
Jellyroll captivated the whole crowd yet again! The highlight of the night was the Midland High School graduating class of 1964 waving their arms in unison to the band’s high energy rendition of Lionel Ritchie’s “All Night Long.” Bandleader, Kurt Titchenell, vividly remembers the President being especially fond of this song as “he was grooving all night long!” No pun intended!
2007-2014 Flyers Wives Fight for Lives Carnival
In 2007, BVTLive! and Jellyroll celebrated the introduction of live entertainment to the Flyers Wives Fight For Lives Carnival! For seven years, Jellyroll had the honor of performing and helping to create a special ambience that added to the experience of the event for fans of all ages.
Beyond performing for a fantastic cause, Jellyroll had the pleasure of grooving alongside one of the most passionate fan bases in all of sports as well as having the opportunity to meet Flyers legends like Bernie Parent, Eric Lindros, and Bobby Clarke!
The event was highlighted by carnival games such as spin the wheel and dunk tanks and the chance to take a photo with the Stanley Cup!
Flyers Charities have raised millions of dollars through the years and it meant a lot for both Jellyroll and BVTLive! to support such a great cause.
2016 Democratic National Convention
Another exciting event was Jellyroll’s performance for the Volunteers Party at the Democratic National Convention (DNC) in 2016. This was a Pre-DNC Event at the Penn’s Landing Great Plaza, and took place before the official Convention began. This party was for all of the volunteers involved with the DNC and gave them a chance to celebrate and party before the events of the upcoming week began! Jellyroll and BVTLive were happy to have represented Philadelphia to visitors and high profile attendees like Governor Rendell and Mayor Kenny, providing some of the best party band music throughout Philadelphia!
Army Navy Gala 2018-2019
Philadelphia has been incredibly proud to host the most storied game in college football 89 times! The inter-service rivalry between the Black Knights and the Midshipmen in the Army-Navy classic has drawn national attention and attracted tourists from around the world for nearly a century!
In 2018 and 2019, civilian and military dignitaries received the full Philadelphia experience the night before the big game, as they had the opportunity to dance to some of the best party songs while Jellyroll performed the city’s best tunes at the Philadelphia Convention & Visitors Bureau’s Army-Navy Gala! Supporting our military and providing the entertainment for such an illustrious event was an unforgettable experience.
