Over the past 10 years, BVTLive! has partnered with the Communication Studies Department at West Chester University. More than 30 students have interned at the award winning entertainment company, and have learned valuable skills that have helped them in their successful careers.
BVTLive! is a local Chadds Ford based entertainment agency that is led by West Chester University Alum, Kurt Titchenell. The company manages twelve party dance bands, as well as award winning jazz, pop, classical, and specialty acts. BVTLive!’s bands perform at high end weddings, galas and other events. Booking and managing over 750 events a year, BVTLive! is recommended by most Philadelphia area hotels, private clubs and other venues for their spectacular entertainment.
While interning at BVTLive!, interns focus on the marketing and media aspect of the company. Interns will often help manage the official BVTLive! Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Google+, and LinkedIn accounts. They also receive a chance to write news stories and blogs for the website and attend different events that BVTLive!’s bands perform.
Students gain an understanding of a work environment while applying administrative, communication, event planning, and marketing skills. Former BVTLive! interns have gone on to work at QVC, Victoria Secret, The Maury Show, Tierney, local newspapers and other public relations agencies.
We asked former interns, Maddie Ball, Nick Gremminger, Jason Mandragona, Meghan Kennedy, Lesley Abrams and Callie Smith to tell us about their experience at BVTLive!, and how the skills they learned helped them in their future careers.
Maddie Ball completed her internship at BVTLive! during the spring semester. In regards to her time at BVTLive!, Callie said “BVTLive! was a crucial internship for me. I learned so much from Kurt and the rest of the people involved with BVTLive!. I’d recommend this internship to any motivated Communication Studies student”. Callie was asked to stay at Tierney as the assistant to the COO at Tierney and will later transition in to Public Relations department full time.
BVTLive! wishes the best to all of their former interns and is very proud of what they have all accomplished. Kurt Titchenell said “ I love to help students anyway I can, and they help me as much as I help them. I always like to give back to the school and to help students jump start their careers”.
The internship offered by BVTLive! gives students the opportunity to learn skills that many entry-level job positions require after graduation. BVTLive! is always interested in students applying for the position and accepts resumes year round.
