The proverbial wind blew its way westward out Route 30 from Philadelphia. As April starts to draw near its end the calm in the Lancaster Country Club is interrupted as the special day arrives and we all stand to celebrate the unionof "DONBITS". This is the event of all events as Elizabeth Mavraganis and Don DeBarr join together in their starring role of Bride and Groom. This was the Contagious Party Bands 1st trip to the Lancaster Country Club but we hope it is not the last. The ballroom is simply beautiful and speaking as a musician the layout of the room was done with live music in mind. The acoustics project in such a way that all of the guests heard everything from the stage but were never "overpowered" by sound. "Little touches like this make it an enjoyable evening for all. The staff was top notch and the service excellent. A beautiful backdrop for a beautiful day! The reception kicked off with the Contagious Band playing a little U2- Beautiful Day for the introductions. The winds subsided a bit for the couple to get in their first dance to Van Morrison's Crazy Love. With all thepleasantries addressed we could no longer keep the guest from rocking out and the party was on! It seemed like a whirlwind event as the guests continued to challenge the Contagious Band for more so we kept on giving. Performing medleys of current hits from the Black Eyed Peas and Lady Gaga to a some classic Motown favorites like "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" and " Get Ready." We even got tointroduce a special talent of the evening as Christine Mavraganis (sister of the bride) graced the microphone and performed a little Miley Cyrus – Party inthe USA.The Contagious band learned the song special just for her. I don't think a single person in the room was in their seat. We all partied until the buses came to take the guest away and then ........................
We partied some more! The father of the Bride, Ted Mavraganis, and his lovely wife Barb put on a very special event but had to put the travel arrangements for the guest on a little delayed schedule so everyone could get their final groove on! To my knowledge no child (man or woman) was left with anything but tired feet and a smile. Ted was my contact for the band and paid extraordinary attention to the details for the day and of course taking care of the band. He could not have possibly been any more gracious or accommodating and made it very easy for the band to come in, have fun, and entertain everyone. The Contagious Party Band wants to thank everyone involved in making Elizabethand Don's day the magnificent success it was. DONBITS, best wishes as you journey together. Please hold the memories of the day as you do each other tightly, and forever.
